Transparent Teal Star

My First Toner Ever

You might be thinking "are you f___ing kidding me it's your first toner?? AT THIS KIND OF YEAR WHERE TONS OF TONERS SCATTERED AROUND?"
.
.
.
Well, not really.

Ehehe. I actually had bought Skinfood's Peach Sake Toner a couple years ago and I didn't use it the right way. I didn't use cotton pad and instead I spread it right onto my face which is the wrong way to use toner/skin.

Ridiculous as it sounds but yes, this one is my first toner I used the right way. Before this I owned Etude House's Skin Malgem which I don't bother to review because it didn't suit my skin well so I just skip it. And Peach Sake Pore one which I didn't use it right way so let's just skip to the review!

SECRET KEY STARTING TREATMENT ESSENCE ROSE!

I bet you all already know this product. Often said as SK-II's FTE dupe which works similarly but with more affordable price, and it's quite appealing to buy this if SK-II is way beyond the reach.

Early on this post, I said I used my Peach Sake Toner wrongly, but apparently it wasn't that wrong. Spreading the toner all over your face is acceptable, but putting it on cotton pads and then swiping it across your face with upwards motion works better than the first method.
Even though dispensing the toner on cotton pads sounds more like waste of product, the toner and cotton pads actually make the best combination to 'prepare' your skin to accept the upcoming skincare products such as serum, essence, cream, or maybe makeups.
Swiping toner using cotton pad cleans the residue of dust or earlier makeup which we forgot to clean up and facial foam can't get rid of it. If you take a look at the used cotton pad, you'll see the pad got yellowish or even greyish, even when you just finished showering and cleansing your face. That is exactly what toner+cotton pad combo is doing: cleaning up the dust particle or dirt residue, or maybe even the dead skin cells, and preparing your skin for the other skincare products and makeup, which spread-it-all-over-the-face method won't do.

After researching lots of reviews about this product (mentioned as SK STE after this), we--my bestie and I--decided to give this one a try. We shared the toner and giving opinions every two weeks during the usage. Yeah we're that cheap though this one is already affordable LOL.

SK STE Rose came in a sturdy white box (forgot to take the box's pics but Mr. Google sure has it LOL) and inside the box was this luxurious frosted glass bottle, which I liked immediately. It has golden screw cap and gold foil roses printed on the bottom side. It's SO PRETTY and it gives you this luxurious product vibe which I guess all girls will like. Looks expensive, but it's not. At least it's not giving your wallet a cancer LOL.

On the bottle is written "Galactomyces contained", and it made me wonder what on earth is galactomyces. So I made a little research on it, and here's what I found:
Galactomyces, is a genus of fungi in the family of Dipodascaceae.
If you hear 'pitera' often, which is made famous by SK-II's Face Treatment Essence, it is what exactly this galactomyces thing. It was said in SK-II's early ad that Pitera is actually the yeast which makes the sake-maker's hand skin supple, bright, and less wrinkly, is usable for facial skin as well. So that is why SK-II made this FTE as facial product instead of only for hands of the sake-maker.

The nozzle is in the normal size all toner bottles will have on, and it sure helps to control of how much product we need to dispense. It falls in a drop instead of flowing like river, and usually 3~4 drops is already enough to dampen the cotton pad and swept across the whole face.

The toner itself is a clear liquid, has water-like consistency, and smells more like eter instead of rose, which I expect it to has since it bears 'ROSE' on the name. Scent-wise, I didn't really like it because it doesn't really have any exact smell, and instead of scented, I prefer saying this has no other smell but alcohol-like smell.
Probably the smell comes from the Galactomyces thing, since it's a fermented yeast fungi, it's not a weird thing the toner itself will have not-so-pleasant smell, but worry not, the smell doesn't last long. Soon after you finished swiping the toner, the smell will be gone as well.

Though it smells like alcohol, SK STE Rose does not contain any alcohol and is actually a product with 10-free system. It's free from parabens, mineral oil, Benzophenone, alcohol, animal oil, color, spice, Triethanolamine, Phenoxyethanol, and it's flavorless. I don't know if that 'flavor' part is really necessary since there will probably be none who wanted to taste something with unappealing smell LOL but I don't know it probably does matter for some so let it be.

150 ml? So petty ah! LOLOLOL

PERFORMANCES

From the total 75 ml I owned, I could use it for around 3~4 months, twice a day--or more after makeup cleansing, since it didn't need too much for single usage. Price wise, it was quite thrifty for a whole bottle which I assume can last at least six months.

After every usage, I can feel my skin was smoother, and it sure prepared to accept the daily cream, making the cream absorbs better than used without toner. Despite the smell, I started to like this product since it worked like magic (LOL yea I'm exaggerating) in preparing my skin.

I'm really sorry I forgot to take pictures on before-after and used cotton pad, now I have emptied the whole bottle I cannot do it anymore LOL. All I can say, if you're looking for SK-II's FTE dupe, this product might worth the try.

I got mine for around IDR220,000-240,000 and half a bottle lasted for around 3 months so I guess it's a good deal!

Have you tried any type of this product? Let me know how was your experience, and thank you for reading! :*
