Review: Etude House Look At My Eyes Pearl Shadow Base
Hello Cantiks! Happy Friday and now I'm back again with another review with my favourite Korean brand in the limelight today! :D
I have a problem with oily eyelids. So. F8cking. Bad.
As an eyeliner enthusiast (does that kind of profession even exist?), I wanted to try gel liner so I ended up bought one, Silky Girl Double Intense Gel Liner, and loved it instantly because it has jet black color that defines my eyes perfectly.
BUT!! Either my eyelids are too oily or the gel isn't smudgeproof, after 2~3 hours of wearing the gel liner, the black tint will smudging and transferred to my bottom line and makes me look like a panda which I hate so much SINCE I ALREADY HAVE A MASSIVE DARK CIRCLES. More black shade? NO THANK YOU.
So I was thinking the transferred ink was caused by the oily lid and I didn't apply any eye base before wearing it, so I decided to buy one. And my choice fell on Etude House's Look At My Eyes Eyeshadow Base.
And it came in my mail a couple of weeks after I ordered it. YAY.
Packaging-wise, it's not the cutest one you've ever seen in the market but that won't help my liner from smudging so let it be like that. It's cute enough if I may say.
Enclosed in a flip case, with creme-coloured plastic as the container and transparent hard plastic as the lid, with words 'Look at' rounding on one side, it's cute enough for me. And the swirl just adding up the cuteness!
Back side. Not much to see, only some description or perhaps type in Hangeul. I can't read it so--yeah.
And a bar code of course.
It actually came with a tape-like seal which you need to remove before you can open the lid. The same kind with they used on the Lovely Cookie Blusher and other Look At My Eyes Single Shadow, pretty much simple and yet so girly. It's so Etude House.
No other protective seal inside the container but you don't have to worry about the content sticking onto the cover lid because it has a pretty big gap in between so the content won't stuck on the transparent plastic and makes everything looks ugly.
The colour is pearly white unlike any other eyeshadow which is colourless and this one has massive shimmer so you should think twice if you're not into shimmer shadows because every shadows applied on top of this base layer is gonna be a shimmer one although it was actually a matte. Maybe you can just skin this if you don't like shimmer all over your eyes.
A little bit clumping upon application which I don't know the cause, but it didn't happen when I apply it using eyeliner brush for tear liner. I never tried using brush for eyelids, usually I just got my fingers dirty lol and it got the base clumping IDK why so if you want to use your finger, I'll suggest to dab it instead of rubbing, and take small amount bit by bit.
Second function if you're not into shimmery eyeshadow, you can use this as TEAR LINER. It's more opaque than Etude's liquid Tear Liner and it has no glitter which some of the reviewer said it's quite a problem to achieve opaque colour from the liquid tear liner. And this base can be such a nice tear liner because it has shimmer, not glitter, and the colour is opaque enough to be applied near your tearducts. And you know what? It lasts LONG. At least for 3-4 hours the colour and shimmer is still there when I tried using it as tear liner to a wedding reception last Saturday.
More pictures of this over eyeshadows and tear liner will come up soon :D
Final verdict:
+ Long-lasting even as tear liner
+ nicely glowing shimmer
+ double functioning!
+ affordable price
- a little bit hard to apply, clumping
- all shadows will be shimmery with this base :/
Buy again? Urk--no perhaps I'll try other base ^^;;
