The Dry Skin Lifesaver, Innisfree Canola Honey Line
Dry, flaking skin. It's my most disastrous skin condition ever happened to me.
It happened around a few months ago, when I'm on my sixth month using clinical skincare. I was using the skincare from Natasha (Indonesian clinical skincare which is quite famous) for around half a year when I noticed something was wrong after I used Etude House's toner for several times along with Natasha's skincare range. I felt my cheekbone skin burning, like it was stinging and hot and--super uncomfortable. Seriously it felt like a thousand bees attacking your cheek and it was excruciating. I stopped the cream, then changed to the same brand's Anti Irritation cream, and it still stung like crazy.
Then a couple days later I found my cheekbone skin was reddening, like I just got a severe sunburn, even aloe vera gel (Nature Republic's 92% Aloe Vera Soothing Gel) wasn't helping that time. After that, the skin around my eyes, my lip ends, chin, and jaw started to flaking, and that was the most horrible skin condition I've ever been through. Seeing your own skin peeling and flaking like dandruff every morning was something I've never imagined, and wearing makeup was definitely even more horrible since I could see DRY PATCHES EVERYWHERE and BB cream/matte foundation accentuated the spots even more. OH GOD NO.

So I stopped using the clinical skincare. I put aside the anti-irritation cream, night cream, day cream, and the cleanser as well. I changed it all back to Korean skincares (I tried Kiss Luxury Abalone Cream too but it didn't do anything good for my messed-up skin that time), I used mostly Innisfree brand, the one I thought has the most natural ingredients brand, and I stopped using toner (I have Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence Rose that time) for a month or so, fearing it will irritate my skin further. Then I saw Innisfree has this Canola Honey line which specialised in DRY SKIN problems, and I've tried the pack and serum in sample sachet, and it sure was hydrating so I bought the trial kit along with Perfect 9 Repair trial kit (skin & lotion, 10 ml each).
Perfect 9 Repair Skin & Lotion (@ 10 ml) |
I used the Perfect 9 Repair line before the Canola Honey line, and I only used it on nighttime since the Perfect 9 Repair line is very, very moisturising and it felt sticky even on my dry skin. But even though it is, my skin will be back to the scary dry skin when I woke up in the morning. Oh. My. God. By the time it ran out, my skin was already a bit better from the earlier horrible scary dandruff cheekbone skin, but I still couldn't wear any BB cream/foundation at that time even though I already applied Etude House's CC Cream in Glow (it moisten up my skin quite good for a makeup).
THOUGHTS
Package |
Cream - Mist - Serum |
Innisfree really has a genius product designer. Each and every packaging of its product isn't as cute as Etude House's but it sure caught my eyes and heart badly. I like how almost every bottle designed with foliage and simple font but still looks like expensive product. I changed most of my skincare from Etude to Innisfree lately, and I'm happy I did so *laughs*. I use this line with this order: jelly mist > serum > cream.
Innisfree Canola Honey Jelly Mist

It's the one in in the middle, the spritz bottle. At first I wonder why it's called 'jelly' instead of just 'mist', but then I went "OH!" after I tried spraying the mist all over my face. The consistency is thicker than other facial mists I've tried (Wonder Pore from Etude, then Facial Water Vita-C Mist from Skinfood), and instead of watery, it's more like jell-ish but it doesn't formed into lumps at all. Don't worry.
My spritz bottle head is a bit weird, and instead of spraying it evenly on my face, the spritz head makes a circle outline instead of a full one. I need around 2-3 spritz for my whole face.

The sensation? It's a little bit sticky but will be absorbed into your skin in a minute, and leaving your skin moisturised unlike any other mist (I've tried) which is in the same consistency with water but with scent. Not that I'm saying other mists are bad but this Canola Honey one is definitely what you need if you have dry skin.
Canola Honey Serum
This is the second thing I use for hydrating my skin after all those horrible complexion, it's the one in squeezable tube bottle. The serum is quite thick and sticky, moreover if you put it on too much.

Upon application all over your face, there is this sweet honey scent invading your nose, but the smell is so natural you'll feel like you just applied real honey on your face. The consistency is a bit thicker than water, just like how real edible honey is. But no please don't try tasting it, I don't know what will happen and I'm not responsible for it LOL. The scent is quite strong, but not too overpowering and it sure doesn't make you dizzy.
Canola Honey Cream

This is the one with jar in the trial kit. The cream is thick, the thickest of all, so a little goes a long way. Despite the thickness, it's easy to spread and blend all over your face. It has this same honey smell, and it sure is nice to have sweet honey smell lingering wherever you go.

VERDICTS
After 2~3 months using these mini sized trial kit, I FINALLY GOT MY MOISTURISED SKIN BACK. GLORIFY THE LORD AND INNISFREE CANOLA HONEY LINE. My skin is back to the old supple, glowing skin, hydrated, I won't call it oily *laughs*, and wearing BB cream or foundation is definitely easier with smooth skin and I can use that Secret Key STE Rose again (until I emptied the whole bottle) and it sure brightens up my complexion but let's keep it for the next review.
This Canola Honey line is really a lifesaver for ME (obviously), and maybe will work well for those who live in dry environment. Canola Honey probably suits well for late fall or even in winter since the whole range is specialised for hydrating dry skin. The price is actually not that expensive since a little goes a long way. A full sized cream/serum/mist probably will last you at least 3~4 months before you need to buy a new one.

BUY IT AGAIN?
I don't know, probably I will if I'm going through dry-skin complexion again, but I hope I won't.
But, well, I don't mind smelling like honey everyday so yes, I may buy it again since it moisturises well and gives me the dewy look I dig a lot.
Have you tried any of this Canola Honey line? Does it work well on you as well? Please do share me some thoughts in the comment box! ❤

P.S. I'm not saying Natasha Clinic's products are horrible, maybe it's just don't suit my skin. Natasha Clinic's products work just fine on my mom's skin anyway, she was the one who recommended the clinic to me and she has been using it for more than a year, almost two, I think.
