Review: The Body Shop Earth Lover
HI! It's the first post of December, the most magical month in the year! But instead of talking about something Christmas-y, I'm gonna review this pair of shower gel I got from my friends for my birthday!
So, perhaps they were running out of ideas to buy me things I like for my birthday and my wishlist was currently ridiculously expensive (LOL) and only could be bought online and pre order so they aimed for something easier to buy. And here is my birthday gift, two bottles of TBS' Earth Lover Shower Gel!
TBS Earth Lover edition is a special edition which came few years ago (yes they were my birthday present few years ago), which they said all the ingredients--both the bottle and the contents--were made from mother nature, without dangerous chemical substance which will hurt the Earth. Sounds so lovely and very thoughtful of us human, right?
Now let's see from the packaging side. The Body Shop's Earth Lovers shower gel comes in the most cutest tall, nature-green bottle I've ever seen. Semi-lime green, transparent, with sticker all over the bottle and the design was not really cute but it showed a tiny bit of love in every part of the colour and the design.
I got mine in Peach and Basil, and Cucumber and Mint scent. Let me tell you, first time I read the smell, I squinted my eyes in confusion. Cucumber, and basil? Peach and mint are common scent in shower gel, but basil and cucumber? Okay, cucumber may be used in some of skincare (Skinfood has one line called Premium Cucumber and Lettuce which also confused me that I bought it out of curiosity), but basil? That thing belongs in kitchen solely. At least that was what I thought.
Consistency-wise, although it was called 'gel', but the texture was far from a gel. It was runny, almost like water and if you're not carefully pouring it onto the palm of your hand, it will spill everywhere and it was pouring like water so you really have to be careful.
Smell-wise, the Cucumber & Mint one was quite weird in the beginning, but after some days using it, your nose will actually get used to it and it started to smell better and better, and I actually started to like it. The Peach & Basil one was all peachy-smell since the second you poured it onto your hand, and the basil was nowhere to be found--so perhaps the basil was still in the kitchen like I've always thought it will always be there (laughs).
Since they said this is their Earth-loving series that won't hurt Mother Nature, I found the shower gel was less-foamy and it didn't form too much foam like any other soap. It did felt like it didn't cleanse up as nice as abundantly-foam-lathering soap but I felt better knowing that the soap I was using was not hurting this Mother Nature. And just in two or three times usage it already feel so good to use something that protects the Earth even it's just a little bit of what we can do for Mother Nature.
My final verdicts, is only that this product can do at least a tiny bit world-saving action and you're allowed to participate in it. For moisturising effect, it did well on my skin. For the records, I've tried several local brand liquid soap (local products or overseas licenses), they were all done horrible to my skin and I got snake skin soon after a week or so using them, but it didn't happen with this Body Shop shower gel (and also those who aren't in the Earth Lovers' edition). So if you have annoying body skin, you can try this one or any of TBS shower gel which I always love for the moisturising effect and the smell.
I'll add more picture later if I already took some more. Lately I feel not too good to take any pictures lol. Okay then, see you on the next post! ❤
