Transparent Teal Star

Review: Silky Girl Eyeshadow Palette

Happy Friday, pretty ladies! ^^

I was stuck in a pretty bad traffic jam today, took me 40 minutes to go through 500-meters highway gate (it usually took only 2 minutes from the gate to the general road!!) so I need something to soothe my fucked-up mood, and blogging it is!

I don't remember if I already reviewed this quads, but I've rummaged through my archives and I can't find this quad review, although I had this for almost half a year. And it's still full. Why? Let's see :D

Silky Girl Quads in Pastels!

First time Silky Girl item I bought is the Double Intense gel eyeliner, and I was quite fond of it for being so damn waterproof and the jet-black pigment (naturally brown colour for the brown one), and pretty long lasting if you didn't deal with hot and humid weather!

Third time stopped by Silky Girl, I was fascinated by the eyeshadow testers, because as soon as I touched the shadows, it feels like it bounces back, SUPER SOFT. And pigmented! :3 After some time walking back and forth in front of the counter, I decided to try the pastel one because the colour is sooooo cute, it's the colour of bubblegum! :D

Pastel palette I bought
First time touching the newly-opened shadows, it feels the same as the tester; bouncy. And the colour transferred to my fingers easily and gave a pretty nice pastel colour swatch.

The shadow isn't matte but also not glittery, it only has subtle shimmer to give your eyes a pop-out dewy looks with light colours. The colours are pretty pigmented when swatched, and I realy like those cute blue, lavender and pink! The silver is just like any other silver, what to say? But I like it, just not as much as the other three. Kkk~

The colour shows up even better with Aubeau Professional Eye Base! Almost like cream shadows, but it's powder! I prefer powder shadows because I already have a pair of super easy-to-be-oily lids, if I use the cream shadow, you know what I will look like after some times passed in a hot and humid tropical weather: JOKER. LOL.

Sadly, the cute colours aren't that visible on my eyes. I followed the instruction on the back of the package: pink for crease, lavender for upper lash line, blue for inner eye corners, and silver for brow bone. At first I think it shows up pretty good because of my ability *cough* but when I took a picture to see how it shows on pictures, it looks like I only wear one colour from crease to brow bone!!! ;A; It shows mostly shimmery pale white colour, with faint shades of pink and lavender (the blue and silver faded almost to nothing). If you didn't give any closer look to my eyes, it'll look like I only wear a mono shadow. Duh. (pic will uploaded soon, forgot to bring it :p)

Then I tried another experiment, I only use the baby pink colour for last month's Looxperiment's PINK Challenge, and well... it doesn't show up real good. Maybe it's because I didn't use the eyeshadow base, and my skin tone is a bit too dark so it didn't show up like on the swatch above. Maybe other quad palette will work better for my skin tone, but not this pastel one (EVEN THOUGH I REALLY LIKE THE COLOURS ;A;). So I only wear this occasionally (and sadly, there are no enough wedding parties to attend to make this palette runs out faster lol) and as a highlighter for my brow bone shadow or inner corner of my eyes.

Pros:
♥ Pretty pastel colours
♥ Quite pigmented
♥ Affordable! (bought this for IDR59,500, about US$6)
♥ Sleek packaging, looks like pro! :D
♥ Stays pretty long with base
♥ Cream-like powder shadow! LOVE! :3

Cons:
♥ Doesn't show up as good as swatched

Overall rate: 3.5/5
Staying Power ♥ ♥ ♥
Colour ♥ ♥ ♥
Texture ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Value for money ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Purchase again?
Yes, but in other colours :)

  1. Those colors are so cute! I wish I could pull off eyeshadow like that... unfortunately for me, my skin's so pale they usually don't show up that much, or I just look washed out. :(

I nominated you for the Liebster Award. If you've already done it or have way more than 200 followers, I apologize. I'm never sure on followers, and regardless, I really like your blog so I picked you because I thought you'd have interesting answers. No pressure though! If you end up doing it, please shoot me a link to your post! Happy holidays! :)
