Skinfood Peach Sake Pore Toner Review

Happy weekend, pretties! A nice weather we have just now, isn't it?
Bandung has just been struck by a quite hard rain this afternoon, and it's supposed to be a little colder after hard rain like that, though it's not really for long. Uhhh I'm in a dilemma, Indonesia is currently needing a lot of rain to get rid of the forest burning in Borneo but when it's raining too hard, trees are falling everywhere and denting cars lol. I guess taking down the fire is more important so, yeah, more rain please?

Okay let's now we move to the review, anyway.
Toner is always been a crucial thing on most girls' daily skincare routine, moreover with all this Korean skincare/makeup boom all over the world. They always pictured these pretty, flawless-skinned Korean girls applying toner before they start using their night cream, and almost all of the Korean cosmetics company have one toner for every line they make.
Apparently, whatever it's called, be it toner or skin, this runny, water-like liquid is something very important to prepare your skin before receiving trains of cream and serum afterwards.
And so I was intrigued to try how is this thing called toner works on my face as well.

Peach Sake Pore Line
I was a cosmetic newbie when I bought my first toner, and kinda confused with how to use it. My first one is my Etude House Wonder Pore Toner, and I just have to ask Cominica on how to use it. She probably forget it already lol, it was like years and years ago. Yes, years and years ago. I have something to admit before we went on further, that this toner is already finished since years ago but I haven't finished the review properly, and I finally decided to do so (lol). I'm currently using Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence Rose now (preview coming up later).

After some times of struggling with choices and kinds of toner, I finally chose Skinfood's Peach Pore Sake Toner. I've tried the BB cream and the serum from this line, and I really like the smell. The good thing, I'm not allergic to fragranced skincare, so I pre-ordered the toner, and when it came, I can't be happier on how it smells and looks.

It came in a frosted glass bottle, pretty heavy for a 135 ml content water, and obviously not travel friendly. Once I need to travel by plane, I put some in a spritz bottle and it's easier to use than to bring the whole bottle along. Besides, this much liquid cannot enter the craft cabin anyway.

The cap was a screw cap, looking like cork you always find in sake bottles, and I sure did love this kind of design. Giving you the vibe of classic, ancient-looking vibes. The embossed lines on the top of the cap makes it looks more and more like a liquor bottle, and I loved it a lot.

The sticker behind the bottle is supposed to be able to be pulled but until the end I didn't tear it off and reveals what was behind the sticker or maybe it's just something else I can't read. The label behind only contains of what it claims to be and directions to use the toner. I chose the palm method usually, but on some occasion I preferred the cotton pad method.

The nozzle was secured by a white plastic stopper which you can get rid after the first use or keep it to make it harder to open every time you want to use it *lol*. I kept the stopper for a month before I finally ran out of patience (it was really hard to open the stopper without long nails) and discarded it.

The nozzle was small and the toner fell into drops instead of flow, so it was so easy to control on how much you want to use, either on your palm or on the cotton pad.

----from this section, there will be no more pictures since I forgot to take some----
--but I'll try to explain as detail as I can so you won't miss anything--

The consistency is really water-like. Light, runny, and it drips when you pour out too much. On application, it gave a slightly moisturised feeling to your skin, perhaps a little bit sticky for some people, but it will be absorbed to your skin very soon after application. The smell was heavenly, it smelled like fermented peach, and even though it was 'fermented', it still smells good.

Performance? Not really good, if I may say. There was no significant change/improvement on my skin, moreover my large pores around the nose and between the eyebrows. The change was closer to none, but it did a good job on what it claimed (on the label), that it reduces sebum and eliminates shine. The sebum control was a little bit better if I use the toner before I put my makeup on, and besides, it gave me a clean feeling after every use.

Score:
4.0/5.0

Conclusions:
+ leaving clean feeling after use
+ runny, water-like texture, fast to absorb
+ friendly nozzle, rarely encounter 'accidental toner waterfall'
+ SMELLS HEAVENLY
+ did decent job on eliminating shine for particular time period
+ moisturising enough for a toner
+ AFFORDABLE (bought this for around IDR150,000 or $13)
+/- classic design
- glass bottle, hard to travel with
- does nothing but killing shine for a couple hours

Will I buy it again?
Mmm.. Dunno. This kind of toner is the kind I don't want to buy again unless there are no other toner in this world. Though I liked the smell, but next time maybe I'll just buy another I wanted to try.
